Description
While living either in evacuation centers or
on the upper floors of their homes, people
whose homes are near the base doggedly
worked to make their houses habitable again.
The parish hall became a Caritas distribution
center for free supplies. As the seasons changed and needs varied, the type of supplies also changed. Most days, some 60 people came to the base for supplies. In addition, for those who were sheltered in inconvenient locations, Caritas provided electric bicycles and a bus and car service to take people shopping or to government offices.
